The unique sport car Hyperion XP-1 was presented on 12 of August 2020 by Californian company Hyperion Motors. This American sports car with hydrogen engine it produced to make a competition to Toyota and Honda.
Characteristics of Hyperion XP-1
The manufacturer specifies that the car can travel 1,016 miles with just over half of the traffic in the city and the rest on the highway. The total weight of the car is not a distinctive feature for representatives of this class and is 1248 kg (2751 lb). However, it is worth noting that this was achieved thanks to a super lightweight monocoque made of an alloy of carbon and titanium.
Compared to Toyota or Honda, who made their Mirai and Clarity respectively, which are also equipped with hydrogen engine, the Hyperion XP-1 has a larger tank, giving it a range of up to 1,016 miles.
Hyperion Motors in future will build a network of stations for filling hydrogen, as the Tesla, but in view of the greater range it will be needed less of them. XP-1 is equipped with 4 electric motors, each of which is responsible for one of the wheels and then connected to the main fuel cell. Thanks to this design, the car can develop a speed up to 221 m/h (356 km/h) and reach a speed of 60 m/h (100 km/h) in 2.2 sec.
In the basic configuration, the Hyperion XP-1 has a 3-speed automatic transmission. The increase in power delivered by the usual fuel cell is achieved through ultra-conservatives, which in turn help to achieve a significant level of energy.
Hyperion XP-1 design
It took around 10 years to design and then to produce and release the XP-1. To get more energy, the body is equipped with active aerodynamic similar to solar panels.
The presence of dual exhaust pipes allows deionized water vapor to exit as the only one. Inside the car, there is a bid modern display, which size is around 98''.
User can use gesture to control it. Also, there is a glass canopy, with a 134'' size. Inspired by the "Winged Victory of Samothrace", the designers created a V-shaped wing door.
Production of Hyperion XP-1
Hyperion Motors announced the release of the XP-1 in 2022, but only in 300 copies.
