The inception of the Grant Park 220 can be traced back to NASCAR's vision that saw the potential to elevate the excitement of street racing. It all started with a virtual race held in Chicago's Loop on March 24, 2021. This event was part of the 2021 eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series and captured the imagination of racing enthusiasts worldwide, thus igniting a desire to witness the real-life version.

Australian driver James Davison, representing the Rick Ware Racing team, won that virtual race. His exceptional performance only heightened the anticipation for the real-life event.

The race itself will honor its surroundings by taking on the name of Grant Park, paying tribute to the iconic urban landscape it navigates. The accompanying Xfinity Series race will be dubbed "The Loop 121," a fitting homage to Chicago's famous Loop district.

Fans from around the world that have been eagerly awaiting the 2023 season, can expect an unforgettable spectacle. The Grant Park 220 will feature 220 miles of heart-pounding action, encompassing 100 electrifying laps on the challenging street circuit that will have smooth and hard turns, followed by descending ramps.
